Sometimes you just have to say, “What the______”
Got to New York City at 12:40pm. Hop in an Uber and get to the hotel at 2:15pm. Leave the hotel to walk at 3:00pm. Arrive Katz’s at 5:00pm. Eating the best pastrami sandwich ever by 5:20pm. What a trip and we are only a half day in!
The plan was to do Katz’s for lunch tomorrow. But Jeri said, “Let’s do Katz’s for dinner tonight. That way we have all day tomorrow to recover.” Now that is a brilliant woman. (Last time I ate an entire sandwich I had to get up 4 times in the middle of the night to drink a bottle of water.)
It was absolutely just as good as I remembered. And the pickles were not bad either. Jeri tried the egg salad and said it was great. I did have a little coleslaw just to mix things up, but mostly stuck with the pastrami. (Only a half this time. I’m learning.)
It has been over two years since I had Katz’s and it will likely be another year plus before I have it again. Jeri and I are still mostly vegetable based, but to quote Miles Dalby from Risky Business, “Sometimes you just have to say what the heck.” (He may or may not have used a different word.)
