Another Way

4 years ago I joined The Tugboat Institute to be connected to other companies that wanted to thrive AND remain privately held for the next 100 years. I thought that the founder, Dave Wharton, was great and the organization was interesting. I bailed after a year because of priority conflicts.

Dave, however, continues to keep me on his Christmas Card list, which also comes with a book. They have all been good, but this one, Another Way, is fantastic. I like to hear how organization were built and this book does that. It also gives a great case for why to stay private. I’ve been looking for a case study on Why and now I have it.

I have heard that “when the student is ready, the master will appear”. This book comes at a perfect time. I am in the middle of building a plan to keep ODL privately held for generations to come. Dave’s book gives me an outline to build our own “why”.

I for sure recommend. And I might even get in touch with Dave to see if he would let me back into Tugboat.
