The Briar Club
This is a fantastic book! I am a fan of Kate Quinn and was a little skeptical when I realized what this story is about - very different from her other novels. But within 20 pages I was hooked.
On the surface this story is about a bunch of women living in a boarding house in the 1950’s. But there is so much more. Struggle, friendship, opportunity, repression, kindness, and love. I was disappointed that the book ended, but Quinn does a great job pulling it all together in a nice orderly way. She does not leave us hanging or feeling like the ending was rushed.
I recommend to everyone and challenge you to not get something out of the book that you carry around for weeks if not years.
SHINE!
The Road Rider
PS. Because of this book I learned of Senator Margret Chase Smith. If you also do not know what she did, you should read the book (or cheat and look her up). This is who we need to run for President in 2028 - It does not matter the party.
