I Know Jack!

During my first RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) 10-ish years ago I learned about Jack. Today he is a young man. Back then he was just a kid. (Both the man and the kid are fighting a rare brain cancer.) His parents started a foundation and the tag line was “If you don’t fight cancer, you don’t know Jack.”

Fast forward to 6-8 weeks ago. I was zipping through Facebook and saw a bunch of pictures of people golfing with these cool “I Know Jack” shirts. I messaged Jack’s parents (we have stayed in touch over the years) and asked how much of a donation I needed to make to get one of those shirts. I don’t golf, but it is a cool shirt.

Then 3 weeks ago I got back from a trip and was opening up mail and there is a package from Iowa. Out came this shirt. It was fantastic! It made my day and I was already having a really good one!

When I had messaged Jack’s parents, I told them that I wear colorful or meaningful shirts to every treatment session. If they sent me a shirt, I could do both - colorful AND meaningful. Here it is my brand new “I Know Jack” shirt.
