A Woman Like You
Just as I got on my bike this morning, I got a text from my daughter Ashlee. She was looking for my top 3 pump up songs for today. I sent her: Roar, Love Me Like You Mean It, and Thunderstruck.
I was not planning to ride with music today. Lots of other things to think about and do. (While on a trainer I can get a bunch of things done, like typing up this post. Ha!) However, I thought I better try out my own suggestions. Yep, they all worked.
Then I decided to keep going and searched my song list. There are a lot, like 4,000+. I found Hot and Cold by Kate Perry and Shape of You by Ed Sheeran. They both worked. The song that really got me (and always does) is A Woman Like You.
The only lyrics that fit perfectly are “…no throw pillows on the bed…”, but the theme of the song is spot on. Jeri has her ups and downs like we all do, but my path would be so much harder without her. And I’m not just talking about cancer. The entire 33+ years would have been so bland and unbalanced. When I am hard, she is soft. And these days when I am soft, she is hard.
Most of the time we never know if the decisions we make are the right ones. In my life, there is one decision I made that I knew was right a long time ago, I’ve never questioned along the way, and clearly has proven correct as recently as breakfast this morning. That was finding a Woman Like Jeri.
SHINE!
The Road Rider
PS NO! I did not forget our anniversary which was June 30. I do, however, forget to regularly tell her how I feel.
