Canadian Coffee
Our ship pulled into Sept-Îles this morning. With only a couple days to go, I thought I would do a little review.
For the most part, the Queen Mary 2 is like other cruise ships we have been on. The food & entertainment are good. The staff is friendly and attentive. But the place where this ship is way above any others is ballroom dancing. They have a great dance floor, and 3-4 times a day they have lessons or dancing programmed. It is great.
With all that said, there is one area that we have fallen short on this trip. The coffee. Everywhere we have gone—including on the ship—the coffee is terrible! I never thought of myself as a coffee snob. I drink iced coffee 100% of the time, so a lot of the flavor gets over shadowed by the oat milk. But this stuff is so strong, no amount of milk can cover it up. I know people complain about Starbucks being strong—Starbucks has nothing on this stuff!
So despite the rain, Jeri and I ventured into the town to find a coffee shop. The first two we tried did not open until 4pm????? So knowing my teammates up here in Canada support Tim Hortons, we decided to give it a try. It was better than the ship, but still not close to what I was looking for. At least we were supporting the local economy!
Tomorrow we are off to Saguenay. I checked, they have a Starbucks. I may cave and go there. But I will try to resist.
SHINE!

PS The best coffee I have ever had anywhere is at The Crib in Marquette, MI. I would pay $10 for that coffee tomorrow.
